Les Brett
Les has been a game ranger in South Africa for 30 years and is driven by his passion and love of the African bush, his avid interest in environmental and animal conservation issues, together with his willingness to share his experience and knowledge. Les' interest and working knowledge of bush survival and wildlife stems from time spent in the then Rhodesia under the employment of FPS (farm protection services) followed by a career in the SANDF (South African National Defence Force) serving in numerous conflicts in South African Special Forces.
He is a licensed dangerous game outfitter and professional hunter, a Level III dangerous game trails guide and has a Level VI National Qualification registered with THETA and DEAT. Les is also a THETA training provider (THETA number 0145) and a schools development facilitator in the SAQA and NQF process within South Africa. He is also qualified in first aid to advanced Level 3.
Les has trained a range of professionals in the field of survival and wilderness skills, from H.M. Customs law enforcement to British Army Cadet Forces and BSES (British Schools Exploration Society), Brathay Exploration Society, Zimbex Exploration Group, and numerous other clients and groups on a repeat basis for the last 15 years. Les also trains leading conservation and wildlife specialists (such as Mark Carwardine of the BBC).
Les is a welcome addition to the Trueways Team, specialising in leading our Bush Survival Courses and our Desert and Arid Environments courses, including our new Young Survivalists Africa Training Courses.
